Who Are Your Role Models?

Who are my role models? Well I would have to say I hadn't been completely certain about who they were until around May this year. I was always chopping and changing about and none of them ever were that inspiring now I come to think about it. I once had to write an essay at school about who my role models were and I wrote about Whitney Port from 'The Hills'! (If' you've never watched this programme, go to your TV and watch it now!) What was I even thinking?! To be fair to myself though, I did write about Coco Chanel, Queen of Fashion so I do deserve a little credit, don't you think?

ANYWAY...my first role model is Jackie Kennedy Onassis. I thought that a former First Lady might be the perfect post for Election Result Day. I had never really heard of her until I visited Washington D.C last year. It turned out that my Mum had always really liked her too and she was admiring her Inaugural gown. Later in  November there were a couple of documentaries about her husband, the 35th President of the United States, John. F Kennedy. He was assassinated and I watched these programmes and she was so brave and I just wanted to cry for her. I wanted to know more about her so I bought a Jackie biography.  It's called America's Queen: The Life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis by Sarah Bradford. I bought it in May for 1p from Amazon and I am STILL trying to work my way through it.

Jack & Jackie

Jackie endured many tragedies throughout her life including not being able to  be walked down the aisle by her father because he was drunk, a miscarriage and a stillborn, baby Patrick dying at 2 days old and the assassination of her first husband, the murder of her brother in law . And finally the death of her second husband Aristotle Onassis. She was spared of the death of her son John F. Kennedy Jr. who died in a plane crash three years later. She even had to put up with the fact that everybody knew that her husband was having numerous affairs.  Jackie was also a style icon and a worldwide sensation. She helped America become what it is today and everybody still loves her and looks up to her. This is just a quick summary but

Throughout her tragic life she still carried on living and never gave up. This is why Jackie Kennedy is my role model.

If you want to find out more about Jackie then just google or her or do what I did and buy a book about her.
