I found the hand cream when I was scouring the shelves of Boots to fix the itchy and annoying dermatitis. The packaging of the hand cream looks exactly like any other hand product I have used in the past from Boots. I picked it over a Dove hand cream as it was 20p more expensive and it was Nivea so of course I am going to purchase the product! I think the cream was around £3.60 but I cannot say for sure as they have now changed the packaging on the Boots website and I think they have reformulated it as they have added in Calendula Oil which means absolutely nothing to me. Nope, I just checked the ingredients, my bottle has also got calendula oil in it. The hand balm is a white thick cream.
It claims to "instantly soothe very dry and chapped hands and gives them long-lasting protection". I agree with the majority of what is says it does except for the "instant" part. From my experience I would say it has more of an overnight effect. The product contains dexpanthenol which is used for relieving dry skin. I applied the cream at night before I went to bed as I found the consistency quite thick and greasy. I wear my cotton moisturising gloves to bed so I don't get grease everywhere - I look a bit like MJ but with two less glamourous white glove rather than one shimmery one. I woke to find my hands were a bit smoother and much less red than the day before. With constant use I found my hands looked relatively normal and with only a few traces of scarring.
I would definitely recommend the Nivea rescue & Care Hand Balm to anybody who has skin issues or just dry skin in general. For the price this product is fantastic and worked wonders for my skin and my confidence. I felt like people weren't staring at my red raw hands and thinking what is wrong with her? - many people asked me if it was contagious... I loved it so much that I went and bought the Nivea Body Lotion Rescue & Care 48h Very Dry Skin cream. Although I do not recommend applying this during the day as the cream will go evvvvveeerrrryyyywwwhhhheeeerrrrreeee.
